Taking a temperatures rectally

Taking the temperature rectally gives a more accurate reading of the core body temperature.
The rectal temperature is usually one degree warmer than the temperature taken orally.
Using a rectal thermometer that is well lubricated (Super Salve) and inserted into the rectum an inch or two.
You will need to leave the thermometer in place for three to five minutes to get an accurate reading.
