Taking an enema
On your back with knees up and apart !

Lying on a soft surface in this position is the most comfortable and relaxing way to receive an enema.
This position of allows yourself or the administrator of the enema to massage the abdomen to help move the enema solution further along in the  large intestine
If possible place a folded pillow under the hips to place the abdomen in a downhill position.  This will allow the first part of the solution to flow in easily.

Massage:
When receiving the enema:

Massage abdomen in a counter-clockwise direction this will help move the solution higher into the colon.

When expelling the enema:
Massage abdomen in a clockwise direction this will help move the solution back toward the rectum and anus.

Massaging the abdomen while expelling the enema helps move the solution and feces toward the rectum and out the anus.
