| For a normal bowel movement you need to have approximately one
12" long stool daily, ideally two to three, which are approximately 1 in. to 1 1/2 inches. in diameter and reasonably soft in consistency. Normal bowel movements should be smooth, soft, and easy to pass some people may have harder or softer stools than others. The stool should be a brown color, or the color of a perfect piece of toast. The texture should be similar to cream cheese. |
| If your bowels move less than this, you will probably run into
health problems at some point in your life. Stool is garbage your body no longer needs. It is full of toxins, discarded hormones, carcinogens, and unhealthy microbes. This is just a partial list of the waste products in our stool. Our liver, and the rest of the body, works hard to throw out what it no longer needs, or it can harm us. Fortunately and unfortunately, the colon is a highly absorptive organ. If we aren't moving out those toxins and poisons daily, we are reabsorbing them. |
