 Answering some of the more common questions and concerns about Colonic Irrigation. Colonic Irrigation is the safe gentle introduction of filtered warm water into the colon through the anus under low pressure. This has the effect of assisting the removal of material from the colon (intestines). The technique is not new, and has it's origins in Indian bowel cleansing techniques as practiced by yogi's.

Colonic Irrigation can be used as an adjunct to other therapies and in many cases seems to improve the outcome of therapy, regardless of the therapy involved. Since Colonic Irrigation seems to improve intestinal function it may therefore help the body in other ways to bring about a more satisfactory return to health. Information gained during Colonic Irrigation can also be utilize in better directing treatment towards the individual. A colonic treatment is totally unlike an enema. At the end of the procedure, the patient should have evacuated everything in the large intestine. Any possible remaining remnants will be evacuated in a toilet in the normal manner. Then the patient will be re-weighed again. During the course of the treatment, it is possible to identify specific dietary requirements and problems with digestion, these findings can be passed on to the therapist who may have refereed the patient or can be used by the Colon therapist, in order to provide adequate dietary modification and treatments between colonics.
